The Steering Committee

To support the Trustees and provide wider expertise, a Steering Committee has also been formed. Members do not have a formal status, but actively contribute to the project under the direction of the Trustees.

Brian Wood

Brian Wood is a historian, heritage advocate and author. Brian has been involved in other local heritage restorations (eg the Brunner Mine Industrial Site and the Blackball Museum of Working Class History) and is providing advice on interpretation, research and collections.

Dyan Hansen

In her day job, Dyan is a Community Advisor, Community Operations for the Department of Internal Affairs Te Tari Taiwhenua.   A passionate advocate of community-led development, Dyan is providing support and advice around fundraising and organisational process.

Angela Stratford

Angela works as the Electorate Officer for Hon Damien O’Connor, Labour MP for West Coast/Tasman, and she is on a number of other boards of educational and community groups. Angela works on a range of project tasks such as stakeholder liaison, concept design and documentation.  She has edited the Development Plan and the Runanga Miners’ Hall website.

Les Holmes

Les is current Chair of the Runanga Area Association, a renowned local artist, and a long-time Runanga resident.   Les has supported the foundation work on the restoration project that was conducted several years’ previous to the formation fo the current Trust.  Les is able to provide advice on the recent history of the Hall and stakeholder feedback, as well as graphic design and artistic work.

Jo Hart

Jo is a community development proponent and educationalist, and a life-long Runanga resident. Although currently based overseas, Jo has been vital in getting the foundation work on the restoration project underway, and is currently providing advice on the history of Runanga, and networking support.

Paul Kearns

Paul is a past Chair of RAA Inc, and is a Runanga resident. Another of the co-founders of the RMH Development Project, Paul is responsible for leading the original efforts to restore the Hall, including the Engineering Report, the Conservation Plan, and the Heritage New Zealand Class 1 listing.

Shane Dalton

Shane is an active Runanga resident and local champion.  Recently he led a community campaign for a non-chlorinated water supply for Runanga.
